If you’re thinking about redesigning your website, don’t forget to include an SEO Transition Plan in your redesign project. If you skip this step, you risk losing all of the organic search and referring traffic that you’ve built up over the years that your current website has been operational.

I met with a prospect recently regarding an organic SEO project on his firm’s website. He’d just recently read a book on SEO and was a bit overwhelmed. He knew SEO was important as 80% of his clients come from the web. So, even a small improvement in his website’s visibility would be a big boon to his bottom line.

Where do search engines look for keywords on websites?
- Page Title
- Meta Description
- Meta Keywords
- Heading – H1, H2, H3, etc.
- Page content – text in body of page
- Image alt text
- Link text
- Directory structure of web site
- File names – html, image, pdf, php, etc.
- Site Navigation
- Site Map Page
